NEW CASE STUDY FOR 2012: A full day exercise on making an LOF Claim from start to finish

Delegates participated in our interactive case study exercise. The day included:

The Casualty: Facts of the salvage, the salved property, OOPs, the dangers

Weeks 1-4: Appointing arbitrator, collecting security, initial collection of contemporaneous evidence. The panel will include lawyers and clients representing Salvors, Hull, P&I and Cargo

Procedure: Taking statements, assessment of dangers, whether to appoint experts, choosing witnesses, values, OOPs, settlement offers, role of SCR and his Final Salvage Report (SCOPIC cases)

Preparing for the hearing: Disclosure, values, preparation and exchange of expert’s reports, settlement/mediation, bundling

Mock Arbitration hearing involving counsel for Salvors, Ship and Cargo and an Arbitrator
