The LLM in International Maritime Law continuation course allows students who have completed the Postgraduate Diploma in Maritime Law to  continue their studies to the degree of LLM.

It is also offered as a standalone programme to students who meet equivalent entry requirements. 

On successful completion of the programme, students will have:

  • The ability to analyse academic issues of law at postgraduate level and to be able to develop a discursive critical analysis of such issues
  • The ability to develop critical discussion of a postgraduate nature that is sound and valid; i.e. so that it is methodologically “self-aware”
  • A capacity for independent research that is expected of postgraduate students

Entry requirements

  • Postgraduate Diploma in International Maritime Law from the World Maritime University, London Metropolitan University or other recognised University
  • A first degree in law (or a degree with substantial law content) and have  substantial related work experience

Competence in English: Where English is a second language you will be required to show evidence of ability by an internationally acceptable examination in English, or that a prior degree has been studied in English. Students who do not have a suitable test of English may be admitted on a probationary basis and allowed to proceed if their first piece of assessed work demonstrates that their language skills are sufficient.
