Summary

This is a level-7 course designed to offer marine professionals a qualification guided by the industry to enhance their maritime knowledge. It will deliver the knowledge that employers want in their marine technical superintendents and will offer candidates a key advantage in terms of employability. We understand that many experienced marine engineers would like to improve their career prospects by gaining a postgraduate qualification but cannot afford to take time out from their career to do so. This course offers the opportunity to study and work, dramatically increasing the accessibility of the programme to marine professionals.

Entry requirements:

The requirements for entry to the award programme are as follows: 

An honours degree or equivalent in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related engineering discipline.
or
A level 5 qualification in a relevant subject area along with evidence of experiential learning in the maritime industry, such as a Chief Engineer certificate.

Overseas qualifications
Applicants are required to have achieved an IELTs score a minimum of a 6.5 or equivalent English language qualifications

 

Ideal for:

  • Marine Technical Superintendents – already working in the industry, may hold a degree or diploma but wish to obtain a Masters level qualification as a route to chartered engineer status or for career progression.
  • Marine Engineers – working as a senior seagoing engineer with a superior CoC, but wish to come ashore to a well paid professional role. Already hold a HND, degree or equivalent in Marine Engineering but wish to gain a specialist qualification to broaden their options into technical fleet management roles.
  • Graduate Engineers - hold a first degree but wish to specialise in technical management in order to obtain a position working as a technical superintendent.
