Himadri Sekhar Pal
Maritime Lecturer and Consultant
Himadri is a respected lecturer and maritime consultant with over 15 years of academic and industry experience. He is currently working as a project manager, advising one of the biggest steel manufacturing companies in the world on maritime infrastructure projects in Asia. He is also involved in delivering numerous maritime training programmes in the UK and Asia.
Previously, as a Senior Lecturer and unit leader at Southampton Solent University, Himadri designed and taught academic programmes related to maritime business, operations and logistics at postgraduate and undergraduate level. At this University, he taught senior industry professionals as well as undergraduate students, all aspects of maritime economics, cargo and vessel operations, maritime policy, regulations and maritime logistics. He supervised a number of projects related to ship operations and efficiency.
As a seafarer, Himadri worked on ships owned or chartered by Canadian Pacific, Canada Maritime, Fednav, OMI, ZIM, Ofer Brothers, China Shipping, Tradition Cruises and developed extensive experience of managing operations of various types of vessels.
Himadri is a postgraduate in International Transport from Cardiff University. He graduated in Nautical Sciences from University of Mumbai, India. His research interest includes efficiency and effectiveness of maritime transport, application of supply chain principles in maritime transport to improve efficiency and performance, and productivity issues in the maritime industry.
