Katerina Konsta Dip Fin, BSc, MSc, PhD (cand)
Shipping Consultant.

Katerina is currently working as a shipping consultant.

She was for a number of years the Head of the Shipping, Transport & Logistics Department at BCA College of Athens (Greece) which collaborates with London Metropolitan University (UK). Her extensive teaching experience has been gained at various colleges and universities, lecturing on undergraduate courses in shipping, maritime business and related subjects.

She also has many years’ experience as an industry consultant, working in Greece and the UK on varied projects in national and international shipping and logistics.

Katerina holds a degree in Maritime Business and Maritime Law from University of Plymouth (UK). Prior to this she studied Business & Finance at North Hertfordshire College (UK). Her postgraduate studies include International Shipping at the University of Plymouth (UK) and Maritime Studies with International Transport at the University of Piraeus (Greece). She is currently working on her PhD at Plymouth University.

Katerina is also a member of the International Association of Maritime Economists (IAME), Women’s International Shipping & Trading Association (WISTA) and the Hellenic Association of Maritime Economists (HAME).

Her research focuses on shipping policy and strategy, logistics, freight analysis and vessel sale and purchase. She is the author of articles and papers in a range of magazines and newspapers as well as being a reviewer for the Maritime Policy & Management Journal. She is a respected participant in various shipping and logistics conferences and forums.

Ioanna N. Pentheroudakis
Managing Director, Cosmos Shipping SA

Ioanna Pentheroudakis has shipping in her blood. Born and raised in a family with a strong shipping background, she completed her initial maritime academic studies in Athens and worked her way up in the family business to become Managing Director of Chartering at Cosmos Shipping SA, a company specialising in the dry chartering business.

Along the way, she has gained a wide range of academic qualifications, including a Bachelors degree in ‘Maritime Business and Maritime Law’ from Plymouth University, UK, and a Masters Degree in ‘International Transport and Shipping’ from the University of Cardiff, UK.

In addition to her professional activities, Ioanna has maintained a strong interest in teaching. At Liverpool John Moore’s University she was lecturer in ’Business Communication’ and ‘Maritime Policy’, and has lectured in ‘Introduction to Chartering’ and ‘Chartering Practice’ at BCA Business Studies/London Guildhall University and London Metropolitan University.

From 2004 Ioanna served as Vice President of WISTA Hellas (Women’s International Shipping and Trading Association) for four years, and currently sits on the board of directors at the Hellenic Shipbrokers Association (HSA).

Dr Evi Plomaritou
Shipping Consultant in Chartering and Marketing

Dr. Evi Plomaritou is a Consultant in the fields of Chartering and Shipping Marketing. She undertakes the planning of marketing strategies and chartering policies of shipping companies, the in-company professional training, as well as lecturing for academic institutions or professional bodies in Greece and abroad. Since 2008, she has been working as a Lecturer of Frederick University (Cyprus) and since 2005, she has been teaching at the Department of Maritime Studies of the University of Piraeus. From 2007 to June 2012 she worked as a Visiting Professor and Doctoral Supervisor of the European University in Switzerland. From 2008 to 2011 Dr. Evi Plomaritou worked as a Senior Lecturer for the Business College of Athens (which collaborates with London Metropolitan University). From 2001 to 2008, Dr. Evi Plomaritou worked for the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (ICS) providing consulting and training services to Greek shipping practitioners, while in 2005 she was actively involved with the foundation of the ICS Greek Branch. From 1997 to 2001, she was the Academic Coordinator of the Shipping Department of Mediterranean College in Greece while at the same time she was a fellow researcher in Maritime Projects at the Research Centre of the University of Piraeus. Moreover, she has had a 9-month practical experience onboard bulk carriers. During the voyages, she has fulfilled research concerning the loading / discharging operation of dry cargoes, which is included in her book titled "Chartering".

Dr Evi Plomaritou was awarded with distinction her “Doctorate Degree in Chartering Policy and Marketing Strategy of Shipping Companies” from the University of Piraeus. She holds the postgraduate title “Master of Science in International Transport” from the University of Cardiff in Wales, the “Master by Research in Business Administration” from Capitol College in the USA, the “Advanced Diploma in Transport & Logistics” from the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in the UK and the “Professional Diploma in Dry Cargo Chartering” from the Cambridge Academy of Transport. She has graduated with distinction from the Department of Maritime Studies of the University of Piraeus (BSc. in Maritime Business).

Her writing experience includes mainly the following books:

•    Chartering (with accompanied DVD in cooperation with BIMCO, 3rd edition, 2010, in Greek, 1319 pages).
•    Marketing of Shipping Companies (Recommended by the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, 2008, in English, 233 pages).
•    Marketing of Shipping Companies as a Tool for Improvement of Chartering Policy (2006, in Greek, 552 pages).
•    Shipping Organizations Framework for Internal Assessment (European Business Ethics Network, 2006, in English, 110 pages).
