Captain Drouin has more than a decade of experience as a marine accident investigator with the Transportation Safety Board of Canada. He has attended IMO and has many published articles in several industry journals.
In 2012, Captain Drouin returned to sea as a Master on various vessel types including cable ships and ASD trailing suction dredgers. A Fellow of The Nautical Institute, Captain Drouin is a founding member of The Nautical Institute's IMO steering Committee and Editor of The Nautical Institute's MARS reporting scheme.

Graduates of the Diploma in Marine Accident Investigation can apply to continue their studies to the MSc Marine Operations with Middlesex University with advanced standing entry. This continuation route has only been recognised for graduates of the Lloyd's Maritime Academy Diploma.
